Easily the worst was the (thankfully now defunct) Belgium airline Sabena who managed to lose every piece of luggage entrusted to them.

They must have been a subsidiary of Alitalia then - an airline who not only lost every bit of baggage I ever entrusted to them but who could only be relied on for one thing - being late.
