Try both or even a 4/4. I moved from a 1993 4/4 to a 2002 Plus8. A big difference in driving characteristics. Choose the one that fits how you want it to for the use it will get.
Buying new? You get the current engines and the new CX platform, and the ability to spec the car. Buying used? A variety of engines depending on age but cosmetics will be as seen. The Plus4 CX just revealed looks a good car with modern feel and a good dose of power. I could be tempted after a test drive. If the older ladder chassis tempts you then there are plenty of good cars at dealers. Be prepared to travel to see cars. Both mine involved good distances to get to the dealers. Part of the adventure of owning a Morgan.
Currently the Covid restrictions are an obstacle.
I would normally advise contacting your local Morgan club for learning about the cars and get-togethers. Looks like you will be delayed until restrictions get eased. In the meantime keep in touch, research, drool!
