Back in the 70's working in BBC TV outside broadcasts which involved a lot of travelling, my young colleagues and I had an interesting range of cars pass through our hands, including Daimler SP250, 4.2 E-type, Gilbert Invader, Jensen CV8, Lotus Elan SE, Jensen Healey, Sunbeam Tiger, two Reliant Scimitar GTE's, Triumphs TR3, TR4 IRS, GT6, Aston Martin DB2/4, Austin Healey 100/6, Porche 911S etc. and those are just the ones I remember. Would be happy to own just one of those now. I do remember though the guy with the SP250 selling it after building an Elan Sprint in the classic red/white from a kit.

We had a guy that used to work with them but left and joined our crowd for better money and overseas travel his name was Dave Scrivener who was based in Cambridge at the time and owned a fair few properties.

As he attended property and car auctions regularly he got fed up with them asking him to spell out his name so Dave being Dave changed it to Sands, the first auction he attended after the change the auctioneer asked him "and how are we spelling that Sir".

He was a bit of an oddball and eventually settled in Whithorn and his wife died and he couldn't stand being alone and took his own life, a sad old story but we had a lot of fun on various overseas contracts.
