The Supermax overlay is well proven in the motorcycle world, weighs about 10 pounds less than a steel sprocket (weighed both), and really is the more elegant solution. Physics tells us reduced rotating mass is roughly equivalent to 2x static mass, so the 10 pound addition of a steel sprocket equates to adding 20 pounds to the machine, which has a negative effect on acceleration and fuel mileage. Maybe not enough to care about, but it's there.
