Plus, I run my car with out mudguards unless I know it going to be very bad weather on a long trip.
Is that within the rules, thought mudguards were required in UK, the tyres must be covered? That's why cars with widened track have wheel arches extended or spats fitted.
They are, but as with so many aspects of our cars, some rules can be squeezed a little. I run black/silver plates with a 1952-issue reg and to most observers the car looks 70 years old I suspect. Running without mudguards I think is OK for pre-war cars - and some US-based RatRods certainly run around with open wheels - but I personally wouldn't use my car like that on the road all the time, as it's bound to be spotted by most Traffic Feds and also covers you in sh1t when the roads get grubby!
