Bloody hell Chaps, talk about looking down memory lane with binoculars !!! I would love to know where Bervie1 grew up to be able to get 7 pints plus F&C for £1. I do remember going round the building sites collecting empty bottles and returning them to the shops to collect the 1d deposit. It supplemented my 1 shilling pocket money.
Heather has just reminded me that in 1963 as a youngster in Thetford when they were building the overspill to cater for the GLC she and her mates used to go round the sites collecting empty Corona bottles to claim the 3d back on each one, her Mum and Dad never found out they would have gone bonkers..
