The 40mm increase in ride height upset the handling and created massive amounts of bump steer as they did not alter the position of the track rods to compensate for it. Hence the "comfort kit" being available to address the problem. I measured the bump steer on my car after it tried killing me more than once at 0.875" over 1" of bump and 1" of droop. I would class anything over 0.010" as too much.
By dropping it by 40mm to 100mm ground clearance at the front and 110mm at the rear it restored the suspension geometry to how it was designed.
This results in beautifully weighted steering and stops the car deviating from the chosen line when hitting pot holes or man hole covers. Before, I could find myself on the opposite side of the road or heading for a wall at speed, weather I liked it or not. The bump setter was so violent it would rip the steering wheel from my hands, now I can steer with just one finger and thumb.
Advice please - I am about to fit Ohlins front and rear to mine (end-2016, so without the early models' suspension geometry). Would you recommend that I drop the ride height; and by how much?
