Agree K, statistically safer roads but if there is a problem you are travelling at higher speeds. I no longer travel behind cars with suitcases on roof racks and view roof boxes or bike racks with suspicion too. sherlock


We once had a very lucky escape when a snowboard came off the roof of the car alongside us on a busy motorway south of Paris. It cartwheeled down the road, it's steel edges throwing up impressive sparks. Cars swerving to avoid the board caused a multiple vehicle pile up, which had we been a couple of hundred metres further back would have probably included us. There but for the grace of God......
