Richard the cover on mine goes over the folded hood & is basically the same then as the 9 stud version. The hood frame when unlocked rotates up so when the hood is down you can access the rear shelf. when folded it lets you then cover the hood with the tonneau cover.

Thanks for the explanation that sounds like a good arrangement and it does make you wonder why they don't do one for the CX unless the ingress of water has them really worried.
