After spending far too long replacing a sidelight bulb in the headlight unit of a GDI I noticed that behind the headlight there were two spare black wires terminating in a small ring terminal. At first sight they appeared to be earth wires for the two bulbs but I could see nothing to connect them to. I didn't check the other unit as I was just about at the end of my tether aligning the tatty rusty little wood screw supplied by the factory. The outcome was that I reassembled the light unit and everything worked as normal. As the hole for the headlight is filled with a what looks like a plastic pudding basin I can see no use for the wires. Have you more knowledgeable chaps any ideas?
