Thought I do a little experiment on my way to work this morning to see how much I use 1st gear. My journey is boring, and gave me something to stimulate my tiny mind

Journey is 25 miles. Takes about 45 minutes. On my route I use 14 different roads (including the legendary 'Bell End'). There are 5 conventional junctions and 17 roundabouts (the last 5 miles are in MK). 2 Pelican and 2 Zebra Crossing. Roads are a mixure of 20/30/40/50/60/70mph limits. I'm using my 1.2l Corsa, so not some great torquey beast. 80bhp so comparable to the Morgan. Gear ratios in 1st (3.55) and 2nd (1.96) are very similar to the Type 9. Although not a 'hypermiler' per se, I do use some of the 'anticipation' techniques on my drives, to keep my consumption down and my drive 'stress free'.
Total time spent in 1st gear.............. 3 seconds. Spent longer in Reverse to get off the drive
