If you have enough green electricity, from nuclear, solar, wind, wave or hydro then hydrogen produced by electrolysis is about as green and carbon free as is possible.
Another reason hydrogen is "suddenly" attractive is that by converting unused electricity into hydrogen it can be easily stored and converted back to electricity by burning it in a gas turbine generator.

Hydrogen is the future, not lithium ion or any other chemical battery storage system.
