I'm assuming that you don't have an original registration number with the bike. In which case read on.


Get certification from a recognised body, i.e. the Vintage Bike Club, Zundapp owners club or whatever, that confirms the frame/engine details and the date of manufacture.

Attach that with the V55/5 and you should be ok. I'd also submit pictures of the frame and engine numbers and a couple of views of the bike.

The V55/5 is totally unfit for purpose when it comes to registering Historic vehicles and there is almost no information on the DVLA website as you've probably found out already.

My nephew has recently registered an Historic motorcycle in this manner and had no problems.

You only need a NOVA if you've imported the bike, in which case you'll need to provide a lot more information. I wouldn't go there.
