The feeling that comes with the last mortgage payment is unbeatable. Our goal when we married was to be mortgage free and retired at 56. Made mortgage freedom at 58 and retirement at 60.
That sounds awfully like spending your young life wishing you were old!
Not at all. We have had loads of fin over the years - mostly horse and Morgan related. Just made sure we were not profligate and paid extra into pensions. Now we sit back and watch others of our age who have another 10-15 years of mortgage left to pay plus a car on HP and we are grateful we made the decisions we did.
