Lets be honest here! We only fit a bonnet strap because they look cool in a retro sort of way....the bonnet is hardly going to fly up on its standard clips.
The biggest pain for me is not paint scratching, its washing the car.....trying to drape the ends somewhere ( a Simmonds double buckle strap) so they don't get soaked and then stretch. Forgotten how many times I've had to refit the straps due to stretching!
