The most usual way to fix a axlenut is to tight up to the correct torque and than give it a turn that the holes for the spline
does match.

I‘ve got classic MINIs there is a very heavy torque of 225NM (for the 9/3 and 12/6 doublehole) and 245NM (for the 9/3 singlehole).

So the first step is to look about the correct torquesetting.
