I lost 50% when I traded my '01 986 S - only owned it 10 months.
But, that was better than a chap I met at Pro-Porsche, where I used to get mine serviced. Identical car (bar the colour) including mileage - 70k - just suffered IMS failure. Due to car value it wasn't worth putting another engine in. He'd turned down an offer on private sale of £7k - but did say he would have felt really guilty had he sold it... I got £6.5k trading mine on the Clubman Cooper D. Pro-Porsche had just picked up a '98 2.7 for £2.5k
