I am sure that many of these recommendations are worthwhile and excellent quality (this forum is known for the excellent taste of its members!), however at this time I feel obliged to support local small independent shops who are currently really struggling.
In order to minimise trips out I can appreciate that the easiest choice is to do it all in one fell swoop at a supermarket, and that is why some of the independent food outlets are struggling.
I am relatively lucky in that we have an excellent family butcher , fishmonger , cheese shop and a greengrocer in a small area which is about a 15 minute walk across Greenwich Park. Yes the prices are higher (sometimes rather eye-wateringly so) , but I want them to still be here when all this blows over so I can use them for "treats" buying in the future, they are all going through very hard times at present.
