When Britannia came in and they took her upstream to turn her on the flood there were just feet to spare, we used to have a BRNC Captain living next to us here that had some really funny tales.

He was No2 on Broadsword in the Falklands and had nothing but respect for the Argie pilots coming in well below mast height dropping heavy kit and going round again to empty their canons, he has some fantastic photographs. He went away a young man and came back grey, no kidding.. A fine friend and another John.


They emptied their cannons on us dug in on the beachhead, I came back bald!!!

Great photo remember it well.
