A trip on the Castle Ferry (open topped small jobby) from the Embankment out to the Castle takes you past the Mermaid Graham, up the steps to the Castle and tearooms, it's a nice little half day job and you can enjoy looking down on the boats making their way into or out of the mouth of the river whilst we enjoy a pot of tea and a "cream on first".
A good friend of ours in the village used to own the Castle Ferry, an ex Merchant Captain and later river pilot of the Dart when we still were commercial. The last of that was the timber boats going up to Totnes but that's a long time ago now probably 25 years ago, I could see them from my office window.

We'll give it a go when you next come down.
