I wouldn't mind the shift feel on the Ford box. I had two roadsters with a Ford box and the shifting was very ok. On the contrary, I liked the "clonk" when the gear engaged. However, I find that the ratios on the Mazda box are better matched, especially the first two gears are better suited to the lightweight of the 4/4 because they are longer.
