I discussed the front end noises with the shop that I that performs my routine maintenance this week. He discovered that the front end assembly, especially the struts, all had the nuts tight but only just. At least one of the struts was held with fittings that could easily be broken loose with a 1/4" drive ratchet, perhaps 10 or 15 psi torque. After tightening everything, no more front end noises.
