I dont have a particular problem with keeping black wire wheels clean as I don't tend to go out in wet conditions and the car isnt used much in winter.
Admittedly wire wheels arent the easiest thing to clean whatever colour they are painted. It is only the same as having Black paintwork on a car though. It is difficult to keep a Black car clean but less so on a weekend only car and Black paintwork on a car looks superb when clean.
Mine seem to get wet on almost every trip, and taking black wires to the Scottish Highlands was a complete nightmare. They were totally messed up before we got there.

To be fair Dave your trip to the Highlands must have been 300 miles so its not surprising the wheels were totally messed up! In fact the the whole car would be messed up.
But every credit to you for going on touring holidays in all weathers. Maybe thats why I dont have a problem with my black wheels though im sure even your stainless wheels would be messed up on those trips!
Maybe brown wheels are the answer for touring
