As far as I can see, they have added more weight to the rear of the tanks, thus putting more load on the forward brackets and potentially making the situation worse. If you ever remove the bulkhead, it would be interesting to see if they have also reinforced those front brackets. In the meantime my advice would be to regularly check that the straps are good and tight. oldgit


I did remove the bulkhead, the front brackets are unaltered and the straps are bar tight. The added weight of the new bracket is minimal compared to the fluctuation in the weight of fuel.

The new bracket is bonded as well as screwed to the wooden tank support, but I still would have liked to see a stiffener welded in along its length.

One thing that occurs to me is whether or not MMC are now fitting this mod to all new MTWs?
