I've bought several sets of tires from Coker with no issues. I do specify on the order (i.e. in writing) that I will only accept tires with manufacturing dates in the current or previous year. FWIW I do this when I order from TireRack and from my local retailer as well.
So I guess I don't trust the order puller at any tire retailer.
