The shell craters and mine craters are quite sobering. I did the Somme battlefields, Vimy Ridge and Verdun this year and what is shocking is the size of some of the battlefields like Mametz and High Wood...so small yet so man men died.
There is an interesting D-Day museum at Arromanche which I always enjoyed visiting when in Normandy.
