One thing to note, once a topic has been added in one of the galleries you cannot add further pictures. I don't know why, I think it is a bug.

Not entirely true.
The author can alter their own first post (including adding photos) but if they, or anyone else, tries to add a post with inserted photos, the site will not show them if the thread is in a gallery. You are correct, it is a bug.
