Horses have bars...?  If the weight distribution or general body positioning of person in control plays a degree of importance in aspect of progress, then riding may be a more apt description...? Of course the degree of exposure to the elements perhaps plays a part in such assessments too..? Just thinking in type. Thought we were talking vehicles? You ride a horse, but I think you 'drive' a horse drawn carriage?
