Hello, Phil - clearly remembering our pleasant meeting at Donington some years ago! Hope you are all right.
As for lighting - I also considered adding extra lamps, but in my case driving lamps. However, after some self-analysis I discarded the idea. What was I trying to achieve? Good looks - yes, but that would have been quite expensive cosmetics when it includes the badge bar + lamps + clips + relay + fitting. What I really was after was better lighting, and IMO that is better achieved by improving the lights I already have and are used all the time rather than fitting an add-on that is used on-off. So I started with simply fitting relays to the existing headlamps, which gave a significant improvement in light output. DIY job, but fiddly. Next, I changed the OEM lamp units to the Cibie 180 which have far better optics. Sadly, the LDH version is now dicontinued. So that leaves you with either fitting LED bulbs to the existing lamps, but that is not MOT legal as far as I know - or fitting a complete LED unit, as for example Cain at Wolf Performance sells them - most likely combining it with a relay fitted. So I think it boils down to what is the priority, sporty looks or better light output. If the latter is the priority, I think it is better acheived by what I have described above.
