On the far side of the pond, these are the leading sartorial indicators of A-M first steps:
* Penny loafers without socks
* Sailcloth Bermuda shorts with a charmingly thematic print of some kind (little whales or sailboats)
* A pastel polo-style shirt (Lacoste is always OK...other logos are subject to the whim du jour)
* Some sort of deliberately non-technical watch (art deco is always OK)
* A sweater of some kind casually draped across the shoulders to indicate that one summers where cooler evenings are a possibility
* Outdoorsy sunglasses like Maui Jim or Costa Del Mar
There is no possible way for me to track hat indicators. The best I can do is that it would be something one might wear to a Gatsby-themed brunch. A baseball cap turned backwards against getting lifted off by the wind would be out of the question, despite the practicality. Negative bonus points awarded if the baseball cap has a logo of any kind.
A callus on the hands of any kind is grounds for a review by the full committee. A waiver can be granted for some musicians, depending on the instrument.
