Back in the day, Heart of England also sold stainless mirror bases + arms. which are a significant improvement on the originals. Since HoE closed, I haven't seen any advertised, although Melvyn or Librands might do them.
Standard mirror bases are fine once you've had them powder coated. A tiny fraction of the price of stainless ones from Librands.
