Can't resist mentioning my friend who shared a minor with his brother all those years ago.
It used to get clogged up with dirty fuel and they were forever changing the inline filter. Couldn't afford a new tank I suppose. So in the end they had two or three filters in the car. They cut a hole in the floor in front of the passenger seat and located the filter inline at that point. After that they could change the filter from within the car sometimes doing it whilst still driving if there was a bit of a straight for awhile. They became very quick at it almost pit stop like, but the car stank of fuel.
