an update Taffog and Ivanford:-

Taffmog, I have purchased a straight and a 90 degree nipple from a local motor factor. I guess they do not get many requests for these as they were not able to tell me the sizes so I guessed.

Before fitting them I took Ivanford's suggestion and inserted a washer on the original one and I can now connect the grease gun
without removing the damper. I'll keep them for future use.
