Some folks may not have the wherewithal to own two cars yet are sports car enthusiasts, and therefore may have to press their sports car into duties for which it was never designed, and in that regard over many years of observation of the activities of Morgan owners, it seems they may be a tad creative in terms of the usage of their cars as mechanical donkeys...? My 991`s purchase was "justified" to some degree as being a PDK, in that my good lady could drive it and as such it could act as a stand-in should the family barge be unavailable.
When engaging in an early morning drive around the local countryside flappy paddles are very much in use to increase the level of driver involvement on a tight and twisting country road. However dependant on frame of mind and on the same road, sport mode can be deselected and the gear changes can be left to digital decision making should one wish to enter cruise mode for some reason, perhaps to take more time enjoy the scenery, or if one should catch up with traffic with no overtaking possibilities likely to present themselves for a few miles..?
As for the digital decision making of a PDK box, I think it may learn driving style and dependant on programming may prioritise fuel consumption over performance to some degree unless taught otherwise...?
Of course if one also perhaps have a manual Morgan available should one wish to crunch a few gears, such a situation would seem to present the best of both worlds..?
I do see the 991.1 on as just another step in a process of of evolution/ conditioning owners towards an electric Porsche, given there is no sight of an engine available, other than the tail pipes and the noise and fumes they generate...Sigh..! Though in truth when I owned air cooled 911`s I ever thought the engine looked like the innards of a washing machine... it took time to gain a degree of appreciation for the contents of the 911 engine bay... Whereas the +8 ever impressed...
