It's possibly about how much the seller needs the money. On SOR there are two prices from the dealer point of view...so the conversation would usually go
I can offer this for sale at X (unsaid:it will look nice in my showroom and costs me nothing to have it here) or, if you really want to sell it straightaway it will have to be X minus 20(or whatever) percent.
Dealer gets same profit either way. So the seller decides, take a long view and hope to get high price or sell immediately.
Same thing happens in estate agent offices with bereavement sales of houses.
