I was looking at doing a build with Chesill the summer before last. Went to their factory, got a tour of the place and how production works etc. This was followed by a test drive.
All in all I had a massive smile on my face and was ready to seriously look at getting a build slot. However, after getting home I jumped straight into my 4/4. The clincher for me was the fact the MOG had a ton more craftsmanship involved in making it. that and the top in it's lowest stowed position had the metal frame eating into my shoulder. But the overall experience was simply amazing. Provided all the smiles per mile my 4/4 does in a different wrapper, be it a plastic fantastic one. If I was coming from a M3W I would be driving a Chesil today.
However, with that said, for the price, it's a very attractive option. IIRC the base engine was a 1.6 with the option to got to either a 1.8 or 2.0. A 1.8 with a few key options brought the price to about £46k. All considering, not bad at all.
