Hi All,

I've recently purchased a 1979 Plus 8 which was completely rebuilt between 2007 and 2013 as a Morgan Challenge Race car. It's a lovely car, and in great condition throughout. However, I've noticed there is lateral play in the steering column top (closest steering wheel) and bottom (front bulkhead line) bearings. Is there any way of improving this? Is there adjustment in the bearings, assuming they might be taper bearings?

I notice that at the lower end of the steering column there is a collar with a serrated perimeter with a spring behind it which seems to push against the lower steering column bearing. Does this provide any means for adjustment?

I'm a Morgan newbie, so feeling my way as I go, and learning all the time.

Any help and guidance that can be offered would be most appreciated.

Thanks

Kevin
