If you can earn more money and work only half as much, then its only sensible to go private. Its a basic management issue that the government hasnt learned. If you give more money to someone who is already earning what he thinks is sufficient, you will usually get less work. In the case of dentists, patient costs to go private are smaller than medical costs would be so the private option is more open than it is with doctors.
