A bit late stumbling on this but what a very nice solution Richard

Yes these factory shrouds are a tad ugly so thought it might be worth posting this 50p budget fix

I anguished long and hard over mine when I first got the car and how to sort it. I’m useless with leather or wood so that was ruled out. So I had a plan to print a new shroud, prep the surface and experiment with dark metallic paint finishes.

But..! All that came to an abrupt halt one day when I picked up a bit of left over edging strip trim that I had kicking around and banged it on the shroud. It insantly made the thing look much nicer. For me the problem was that crude unfinished cut edge on the cheap plastic vacuum forming. It annoyed the hell out of me. Once the edge was hidden I started to warm to it and since then it hasn’t bothered me
