I attempted to take perspex out of sidescreens the other day but gave up before I did damage. In the process I used a small powerful car vac to clean out channels aided by a thin plastic scraper, cloth and solvent. A surprising amount of muck came out and the previously stiff passenger slide now runs a little smoother. Remember anything that lubricates will attract muck as well.
