Engine out for a £20 part. If the clutch is ok, put up with it. My layshaft bearing has been worn for the last 90k miles/5 years; a £5 part that you can only hear at idle, which for me doesn't justify the cost/time of removal, plus my clutch isn't a problem so no need to change that, which of course you would do if you went to the trouble of engine out. The cause could be lack of use?
