There is so much to see there that you will struggle to refine your list. A day spent touring Kielder is well worthwhile. Alnwick castle is interesting - if a little dominated by Harry Potter when we last went. Bamburgh Castle is well worth a visit. And any visit to the area must include Cragside NT.
Near Barnard Castle is the Morritt Hotel at Greta Bridge - unless it has changed a lot it’s well worth avoiding at all costs.
