Gold as a safe haven in difficult times...? Was it not Roosevelt, who made it illegal to hold gold in the US back in time...?
As for classic cars and the like bought as a hedge against CGT and the likes, with the combination of the possible baby boomer effect and that of the anti ICE brigade along with the predicted economiic turmoil according to some pundits... it may in time be the case some classics may have no more than scrap value, more likely if they need to be melted down to re-arm Europe....

US citizens can legally hold gold. The ban on private gold ownership was fully lifted on December 31, 1974, and now there are no restrictions on buying, owning, or selling physical gold, such as bars, coins, or jewelry.
