I fully agree with Arwyn. Not something to be played around with here. Lets just say nothing happens to physically damage the braided line. Over time the rubber interior breaks down and will contaminate all areas of the fuel system at and sfter the position of the hoss in question. Now something physical, the underside comes into contact with debris which damages the hose. The electric pump sprays fuel out of the damaged area and the damage you are suffering causes sparks which ignite the fuel which is still flowing....... you and your wife are still in the car...... enough said I think!
Steel, which is an option for fuel lines can eventually rust and leak and or fracture Whereas copper can sustain corrosion issues way better than steel and surprisingly impact deformation by way of the coppers malleability tends to be the better option should the worst happen.
