I can understand why they have outsourced the organisation of the event (and financial risk) to a third party. Many clubs rely heavily on volunteers to help organise and run such events, which can be quite demanding and stressful of one's time given freely. Increasingly, in my experience most members just want to participate in the event, and not put the hard work in to create the event, which is often a thankless task, with often the only recognition /reward being you have put your hallmark on the event. .
I admire the volunteers for their dedication and commitment, I been there myself in my Harley days, but these days I just want to enjoy the event, and the hard work of others and somewhat a little selfishly on my own terms without any commitment beyond physically attending and paying any dues...
