I was intrigued by your comments on running E10 in your MGB, as early B's had soft valve seating so were leaded fuel but as yours is a post 76 MGB the engine could run on unleaded fuel suggesting E5 97+ but obviously you don't get pinking as expected using E10.....learn something new every day
Yes, she runs really well - as she's an old girl I do a check/tune of carbs and timing every six months, but I've done over 30K miles in just under three years and no issues (and saved around 1500 quid vs E5)
Over 50 years of engine research and design advancement between the B Series engine and the BMW B48 engine and already some owners of Plus Fours are struggling on annual emissions testing ( admittedly to higher cleaner standards) on E10 petrol and the next phase is only a matter of time away is going to be E15 petrol and B48 engines can't run on that, (so I'm informed as per BMW) even though their initial release into production was only 2014. Amazing especially as E15 first went on sale in the US in 2012. E25 has been mandated in Brazil since 2007 and since 2025 Brazil requires Gasoline C to contain 30% anhydrous ethanol (E30), having previously mandated E25/E27.5. BMW, along with other major manufacturers, operates within this market.
Nothing quite like built in obsolesce, to keep the wheels of industry turning..

It bugged me that a modern engine couldn't run on higher ethanol fuel ,especially with the BMW warning that using above E10 fuel would lead to long term engine issues and refusal of warranty claims , So I used a difference search approach, and the main issue is about the need for fitment of a High Pressure Fuel pump, to increase the effective octane levels in E30. fuel

Important: Running a higher mixture than E30 without appropriate fueling upgrades can lead to fuel pump issues or "lean" conditions.
