Just resurrecting this (very) old thread! ...
I too have been revisiting sat nav options - with my old Garmin proving way less useful than the modern phone apps. An old splash-proof Android phone should run Google Maps or Waze very nicely, and connect to your main phone via WiFi hotspot -OR- invest in a cheap SIM card. (And yes, 3D printing is great for new mount options!)...
