We had a neighbour that bought a Range Rover Evoque a few years back. When it was about a month old the dealer called him in for a software upgrade. This was done over the internet at the dealership. When it was not finished at the end of the day they left it hooked up to complete overnight. As the accountant was leaving late he noticed that the power was still on in the workshop and pulled the main switch. The next morning they found that because the update had been interrupted the car was "bricked" and could not be started.
Because of the number of computerised systems in the car it had to be sent back to the works to resolve the problem. Our neighbour had to be given another brand new car as a replacement. I imagine the software upgrade was performed before they gave it to him laugh
I also imagine there were some harsh words with the accountant whose bean counting had cost quite a lot of beans rofl
