Dave, investigating further the 6PK1368 belt was fitted in October 2012 after the alternator casing and mounting bracket broke near the top of the Col du Tourmalet. The car was recovered to a Ford dealer at Tarbes. Morgan couldn’t supply a new bracket as it came ready fitted to the engine so the bracket was welded and a new alternator and fan belt were fitted. In May 2013 the bracket broke again in a different place and a new bracket was fabricated and fitted using the same belt. This bracket broke in March 2015 and a more substantial bracket was fabricated and fitted and the fan belt was replaced with a 6PK1340.
I had photographed the 6PK1368 belt on the car when I returned from France assuming it was the correct belt. When it was replaced in March 2015 it was in the car when I collected it but I wasn’t told a different belt had been fitted. It has been in the car ever since as a spare.
Alternators have been a PITA as number three is about to be fitted. The casing of the first one broke while the car was still in warranty. The casing of the replacement cracked in France and now the casing of this replacement has fractured.
The Col du Tourmalet breakdown occurred two days after being recovered to Pamplona where the fuel pump was replaced. It made for an expensive trip.
