My understanding is that he had it built to use alongside his yacht and it has hooks, so that it can be winched onboard, as well as having some other interesting design features (such as the rear seats being able to fold and turn it into a 'shooting brake').

When I had the Plus8 I thought about a Bimini top variant. I had a Librands rollbar and it would be a reasonably east fit. Use the screen studs and a short " roof"" back and secure to the rollbar. There's a local business that makes softop roofs, variants, bags for surfboards etc who could do it. Very reasonable prices. It would have been a nice option. Plus8 gone now though.
